With more than 230 regular faculty members and 5,000 students located in seven academic departments, Engineering is the second largest college on the Berkeley campus. The Executive and Professional Education Program (EPE) provide open enrollment and custom education programs for industry. Reporting to the Director of Academic Affairs, Education and Professional Programs, this position will support EPE’s business development and sales efforts through the development and maintenance of marketing materials and channels, particularly the social media activities. Activities will include the creation of a digital strategy, defining and executing that strategy and creating supporting marketing collateral for business development efforts. The specialist will be part of a marketing and sales team but must be able to work independently, owning their work, setting priorities, multitasking and seeing projects through to completion.

80% Creates, develops, produces and coordinates public events, including securing private corporate sponsorship as required. •Coordinates design, production and distribution of publications and other promotional materials, including internet or web materials, press releases, advertisements, catalogs, brochures, flyers, signage, A/V presentations, displays, exhibits, etc. •Creates and manages social media accounts (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc.). Create online communities around EPE topics and programs. Provide content on EPE programs offerings, stories of interest about our professors and their work while tracking metrics and relevant conversations. •Identify social media influencers and other websites within UC Berkeley and the community for potential collaborations. •Collaborate with fellow marketing team member to deliver email campaigns that drive enrollments in our programs. Analyze performance , and optimize the content and copywriting accordingly. •Develop creative, engaging, compelling, copy for a variety of digital venues including, but not limited to, email, landing pages, web, blog, and various social media. •Write, edit, and proof emails - including subject line development, and content that drives users to our social media platforms and ultimately strong open and click-through rates; but most importantly: conversion to program enrollments. Measure results. •Analyze performance of the email campaigns, blogs, etc., and optimize the content and copywriting accordingly. •Design, build and edit online content, pages, assets, and applications including integration with Salesforce, LinkedIn and other applications. •Keep webpages current and up-to-date. Work with other departments within the college and university to maximize web presence through collaborations and links. •Create and maintain an up-to-date library of images, text, and various online content for use in web and other Marketing initiatives. •Coordinates web-based advertising placement and schedules. •Manages web-based enrollment system. •Coordinates appropriate use of campus and/or department logos, emblems, etc. 10% •Establishes and maintains contacts with internal and external marketing professionals and vendors; e.g. artists, designers, photographers, mailing houses, postal service, list brokers, advertising representatives, media contacts, etc. •Serves as social media liaison between EPE and other units internally and externally. 10% Administers marketing and/or sales budget(s) as assigned, ensuring that budget goals are met; as required meets revenue generating goals through effective relationships with external sources. •Researches and analyzes new and innovative methods for generating revenue and develops implementation proposals. •Builds relationships with outside (non-campus affiliated) companies and organizations.*************************PART-TIME, THREE-MONTH CONTRACT POSITION********************* *Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, English, Journalism or equivalent working experience. *Experience in developing completion customer focused email copy, particularly with respect to lead generation and conversation. *Strong ability to work independently though setting priorities and executing them to completion. * Excellent marketing, copywriting, editorial and proofing skills. *Experience with email marketing, lead generation, marketing automation, and/or web analytics. *Experience with or willing to learn WordPress and RegOnline. *Thorough knowledge of application and use of statistics and research practices in developing marketing strategies. *Thorough analytical and written communication skills. *Thorough knowledge of marketing mediums and funding sources. *Thorough knowledge of communication principles, media, and marketing techniques. *Thorough, strong project management skills. *Strong interpersonal communication and political acumen skills. *Thorough knowledge of basic concepts, principles, and procedures of building and maintaining effective relations with internal and external constituencies. *Thorough written, verbal and interpersonal communications, tact and political acumen to effectively represent the campus. *Thorough research, analytical and critical thinking skills, including sound judgment and decision-making skills and skill to correctly identifying real and potential problems, advising management as required, and proposing effective strategic resolutions. *Ability to work as part of a team by keeping others informed, working collaboratively on projects and ideas, as well as pitching in to assist coworkers as needed. *Ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities. *Ability to work independently. |
